Christmas As A Child.

Growing up, I loved Christmas as a child. I loved how excited I would get at the thought of coming down the stairs and seeing beautifully wrapped presents (of course, Christmas isn’t just about this) but as a child, you don’t often know any different. I remember the hours spent writing down items out of the latest Argos book. It would seem that I was quite an organised child, I would write down the name of the product, the product number and the page number.

As Christmas day approaches, me, my mum, brother and sister would spend hours watching Christmas films and eating homemade chocolate chip cupcakes. I would cuddle up on the sofa with a warm blanket in the evening and spend time with my family.

Mum would always let us help decorate the Christmas tree. It would be the second week in December when the tree would go up. We would get the tree out, my mum would spray it with some white spray snow. We would then have to wait 24 hours for it to set before we could decorate it. It would be mine and my siblings jobs to pass my mum things to put onto the tree. My mum would always let us add the final touches which were often these little fabric stockings, we would fill them with candy canes and little chocolates.

On Christmas eve we would take it in turns to take a bath and get into our pyjamas. We would always have brand new pyjamas on Christmas eve! They always felt so cozy!

Before bed we would have a hot chocolate. We would put some carrots out for Rudolph and some mince pies and sherry for Father Christmas. At the time of course, we didn’t have a clue that my mum likes sherry and loves mince pies. Coincidence? I think not! Haha!

Growing up, Christmas was always a good season for me. I associate it with lots of positive and happy memories. It would be a time where my family would come together, it was always so nice.

How did you spend Christmas as a child?
