Gratitude Challenge: A Talent You Have.

The cynical part of me thinks “I really don’t have any talents”, do I?

But the honest and positive part of me, and the part of me that wants to like myself more says “I do have some talents”. I’m very good at organisation and problem solving.

I am really grateful that I have this talent as it’s also something I really enjoy.

What talents do you have?

Gratitude Challenge: A Challenge You’ve Overcome.

When I first thought about what I would write about for this post, I was going to write about how I was brave and moved to South Korea by myself. Of course that was such a great thing that I did and experienced. However, recently I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about some of the other challenges that I’ve overcome.

When I went to the shop with my parents last week I was quite anxious. I thought to myself, “this is strange, why am I anxious?” It’s strange because I haven’t felt anxious going into a shop for a good few years now.

When I was at University I couldn’t bare to go into a shop alone. The thought of going caused that much anxiety and panic that I would end up having a panic attack and talking myself out of going all together. It got to the point, where I would visit my parent’s house for the weekend (every weekend) and I would ask them to take me to the shop. I would do my shopping with them, then I would bring it back on the train. It was such a hassle now that I think back to it.

But now, I manage to go by myself and feel completely fine. I mean, of course I still sometimes have those anxious days, but they’re not as bad. I go to the shop weekly to get food for meal prepping.

This is such a significant challenge that I’ve overcome and I have forgotten to congratulate myself for overcoming it.

I’m really proud of myself for overcoming something that I used to find such a struggle.

What challenges have you overcome? ❤

My Favourite Personality Trait

Self improvement – Striving for Development

I’ve wrote about this topic quite a lot on my blog over the past couple of months. I want to constantly be improving myself. I want to constantly be moving forward, trying new things and improving myself.

A few weeks ago someone said to me, for a 23 year old, you’ve ‘done a lot of stuff’. Since then, I’ve been thinking about what they actually meant by that, as in my eyes, I’ve not done ‘enough’. I feel that I should have achieved more by this age.

I guess I’m just too hard on myself for my own good sometimes.

I started to describe my self improvement trait as ‘itchy feet’. I want to be constantly moving. The concept of being ‘fed up’ or doing the same thing just scares the living shit out of me. But with all that being said, I’m also afraid of change. Kind of ironic isn’t it?

I just don’t like ‘standing still’ metaphorically speaking. There has to be a purpose. Before I went to South Korea, I worked a crappy job but it was all with a purpose in mind. I worked and worked and worked to save money to move away. And I did it.

This is my favourite personality trait. I like this about myself. I always want more. I don’t want to settle. I always want to keep striving for new experiences.

What is your favourite personality trait?

Gratitude Challenge – Someone I Admire.

Having someone you admire or look up to can greatly impact how you motivate yourself. For me at least I like to find someone I can really admire. I find that it motivates me to do my best.

About six months ago I discovered a YouTuber called Kalyn Nicholson. I’m in love with her videos. She’s such a positive person. When I’m feeling low or un-inspired I watch a few of her videos. I love how she perceives life.

Since watching her videos, I’ve been so motivated and inspired to look after myself more. I have started meal prepping my meals. I’ve joined the gym. I’m really starting to accept the person I am.

If you’ve not heard of Kalyn. You can see her videos here. I’m so happy to have found someone I can relate to and admire. ❤ 🙂

Who do you admire?

Five Things I Like About Myself – Gratitude Challenge.

Firstly, I’m so so so so so sorry that this post is a day late. This week has just been crazy busy, and it’s only Wednesday. I made it one of my goals at the beginning of 2017 to build on my self-confidence. So recently, I’ve taken up a yoga class among some other things. I’ve been feeling really great in myself. I’m incredibly happy with the progress I’ve been making.

Here are some of the things that I appreciate about myself.

  1. Shy:
Being a shy person definitely has pros and cons. But, I’m glad that I’m quite a shy person. I used to think that there was something wrong with being shy. But as I get older I’ve come to understand that there is nothing wrong with it, it’s just who I am.
  2. Problem Solver:
I’m a great problem solver. Admittedly, I am the type of person that kind of freaks out at first especially if it’s something I wasn’t expecting. But after that, I work as hard as I can to solve the problem.
  3. Caring:
I care about people. I care about people maybe too much sometimes. I tend to care about other people more than I care about myself. This is something I’m trying to change. However I don’t want to change the fact that I do care about others too.
  4. Passionate:
I’m a passionate person. I care about the things that I do. When I start something, I give it my all. I like this about myself. I’m really passionate about the things I do.
  5. Proactive:
This is something that I feel really strong about. If there is something that I cannot stand is not being proactive. If something is bothering me, I try to fix it. If I had a bad day, I will look and take the time to do things that will make that bad day into a good one. If something goes wrong, I try to understand where I went wrong and I try and fix the mistake. There is no point in sitting feeling sorry for myself and complaining about something I can try and change. I like to be pro-active.

How about you? What are some of the things that you like about yourself?

Gratitude Challenge – X3 People

For this weeks gratitude challenge I wanted to express gratitude to three people in particular who are in my life right now.

In no particular order:

  • Georgia
Georgia is my sister. I find her inspirational. She stands up for what she believes in. She knows exactly what she wants and she just goes for it. I like that! There is nothing more I admire about person than being driven and passionate.
  • Sammie
Sammie is one of my best friends. I’ve known her for so long. She’s always there for me. I’m so grateful to call her one of my best friends.
  • Cait
I met Cait whilst I was living in South Korea. I feel that over the past year we’ve become quite close. When I have things on my mind that I want to talk about she is one of the people that I turn to. I really admire the things that she has experienced.

Thank you for reading ❤

Gratitude Challenge -A Friend.

kakaotalk_photo_2017-02-13-22-29-47_34

Today I want to talk about friends. Friends are really important people in our lives.

I tend to surround myself with a few really great friends rather than having a big group of friends that I’m not super close with.

For this post I want to talk about one of my friends who I’ve know for about a year and a half. Actually, what is funny is, I met her through this blog. We were both heading to South Korea on the same day. How crazy is that? We started commenting on each others posts. We added each other on FB and then before we knew it we met up and began shopping in Busan!

And now, Tia is one of my best friends.

She’s been such a rock for me. Especially these past 6 months. Things have been so hard for me, and she’s just been there for me. I don’t know what I would have done without her.

I’m so excited to be planning some adventures with her in the near future.

So Tia, thank you for being my best friend. I’m so grateful to have you in my life. I miss you so much. Coffee soon? ❤

You should follow Tia~

Tia and her boyfriend have just set up a YouTube Channel. Guys, I’m so proud of you!

I’ve always lived in a small town. Some people call it a village. Growing up I didn’t like it. It was too small. I felt like I didn’t fit in. I wanted to live in a bigger place, somewhere that had a bigger population. More shops. More coffee shops to drink at. More things to see.

When my family moved here when I was 13 years old, I didn’t like it. I wanted to move.

I made the most of it as I grew up.

When I moved to South Korea for a year. I wasn’t looking forward to returning to the small town that I had grown up in. Therefore I considered moving straight to London.

Long story short, I moved back home.

After been away for a while it allowed me to really appreciate the place that I grew up in. I found myself appreciating the smallness of the town. How it felt nice walking around the small streets that felt so familiar. The overwhelming memories I felt as I walked some of the route I used to take to high school. It was weird but nice at the same time.

I love how small the town is. The quaint shops that we have. The cosy little tea shops. I’m not sure that a city is the place for me. Maybe someday though.

I always wanted to live in New York.

It was my dream place to live.

Maybe someday. But for now, I’m very happy to stay here 🙂

Thank you for reading. ❤

There is nothing that I love more than receiving handwritten letters. I love them! There is just something just so personal about them.

You can tell that the person has thought about what they’ve written.

When I was teaching in South Korea last year some of my students used to write me letters. It was the cutest thing ever. It made me smile so much to see that the children had taken so much time to sit down and write a letter to me in English. Super adorable. ❤

With the amount of social media and messaging apps available nowadays, it’s so nice and refreshing to receive a hand written letter. It makes me feel so grateful when I received them. 🙂

Thank you for reading. ❤

A few weeks ago I had a job interview. During the interview the interviewer asked me who I have in my life that inspires me. I answered:

My mum.

My mum is someone that I’ve looked up to for a long time. I admire how honest, courageous and caring she is.

I think that being a mother is the hardest job in the world. There isn’t a perfect mother handbook that comes with your child when he/she is born. A parent has to do and protect their child however they feel is best.

I really value the relationship that myself and my mum have. I can talk to her about pretty much anything. When something is wrong, she is the person that I turn to.

I think that my mum is

brave,

loving,

caring,

understanding,

selfless,

and more.

“Mum, thank you for being the most amazing mum anyone could have ever asked for.”

Thank you for reading~ ❤
