An Active Approach To Positive Thinking.

Hello lovelies!

I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend so far. I just wanted to come on here and just share a few things with you.

Screen Shot 2018-01-20 at 7.33.11 pm

Since the start of January I’ve started keeping a positive journal. It’s similar to the positive note jars that I have, however I find that keeping my positives like this is a much better way of expressing how I feel.

I’m a huge believer in daily affirmations! For me, to write down everyday positive things from my days forces me to see how positive even a ‘bad day’ was.

I find that when I have a bad day I tend to let it consume me. (Which is something that is easy to do) However, this year I had decided to take a more hands on approach.

Instead off falling asleep having feeling like I’ve had the worst day, I force myself to get my journal out and start picking my day apart. So far it’s working very well for me. I told my therapist about it last Monday, she agrees that it’s a great thing for my recovery process.

How do you deal with negative thoughts? Do you keep a positive journal?

Session 1.

Last Monday I had my first psychotherapy session. I’m not going to lie, I was pretty anxious about it! I really wasn’t sure of what to expect.

The session was incredibly emotional and upsetting.

We talked about my childhood. We talked about my parents and my dad’s controlling behaviour. We talked about the effects that that is having on my adult life.

We talked our way through the lengthy questionnaire that was handed to me in the introductory session about a month ago. I preferred that! I feel like I can convey my emotions better when I write them down.

We focused on the aspects of my life that I would like to change.

  • Mood swings
  • Obsessive thinking
  • Negative body image

Towards the end of the session, she asked me to think about what I would like to focus on in next weeks session. I think I would like to focus more on my mood swings and what triggers them.

I’m a little late uploading this post. By the time this post is live I will have just finished my second session. I’m aiming to write a re-cap of each session and upload it on a Monday evening.

Have you had psychotherapy before?

This Will Be My Year.

Welcome to 2018!

When reflecting on the previous year, many people have the habit of looking negatively and only seeing the bad things. I found myself doing this until I sat down and really focused on all the good things that happened to me.

In no particular order, here some of the things/achievements of 2018.

  • Went and saw my first psychiatrist and was diagnosed with BPD. (I was brave!)
  • I started my first job since returning from South Korea.
  • I met Josh and fell in love with him. ❤
  • I went and travelled London (properly) for the first time.
  • I realised my inner worth. (This was difficult!)
  • At the beginning of the year, I walked away from a toxic and abusive relationship. (I learnt that I deserved much MUCH better)
  • Had so many amazing opportunities to collaborate with other bloggers and brands. (I feel so grateful)
  • I started (and finished) group therapy (MBT)
  • I learnt how to incorporate more self-care into my everyday routine.
  • I joined the gym.

Now! Thats a pretty awesome list of things. (At least, I think so)

I’m sure there are many more things that I’ve forgotten. I had a great year! 2017 taught me so many things, especially about myself.

I’m grateful that I have the chance to continue building my life in 2018.

How would you describe your 2017?

Rainy Day Bits and Bobs.

Welcome to Blogmas day 21!

I don’t know about you but during the winter time I often have days where I’m feeling a bit fed up and a bit overwhelmed with all the Christmassy cheer.

When I feel like that it tends to make me feel quite down. This year I decided to buy a few things to keep my mind occupied.

I picked up some cross stitches, some magazines and a colouring book, all Christmas themed of course!

I’ve always found colouring quite comforting and having these things to do in the evening times has really helped relax my mind.

The best part is, you can remove the pages from the finished pictures in the colouring book to decorate your room/house. You can do exactly the same with the cross stitches.

What do you to relax your mind during the festive season?

The Christmas Tag.

Welcome to Blogmas day 17.

Today I decided I would take part in a Christmas tag.

What is your favourite Christmas Movie?

Honestly, this changes every year! This year I’ve been loving ‘A Christmas Prince’. It’s super sweet. I mean who doesn’t love a cheesy adorable film at this time of year?

What is your Favourite Christmas Song?

Oooh. I have so many! Um, maybe Last Christmas by Wham! I love it. I cannot listen to it enough. I just feel like it never gets boring.

Do You Open Presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?

Christmas morning, of course!

What is your Favourite Christmas Scent?

Good question! Probably cinnamon and Snow Fairy from Lush, because… well… it’s just lush! Haha!

What tops your tree?

We used to put a star on the top of the tree. Then we had an angel for a while. This year we don’t have anything on top, maybe I should add something on top now.

Is your tree real or fake?

Fake. Although when I was very young, my parents used to buy a real tree at Christmas.

Have you ever gone Christmas Caroling?

No, I’m way too shy to go…

Although, having said that, when I was younger, me and my siblings used to sing in a choir and we used to do Christmas concerts.

White or Coloured Lights?

Oooh. Both! They can both look lovely.

But I would say if I had to pick one, I would probably say white lights.

Eggnog or Hot Chocolate?

Hot chocolate definitely!

Are You A Buddy the Elf or Ebenezer Scrooge?

I LOVE CHRISTMAS so… Buddy the Elf 100% I wish it could be Christmas everyday…

When do you put up your tree/decorations?

My family always puts them up in the second week of December. If it was up to me, they would go up on November 1st. (Maybe when I move out 😉 )

If you could travel anywhere for the holiday season, where would it be?

Probably Germany. I really really want to go to their Christmas markets.

Do you make new years resolutions?

Always, but I’m not going to give any of them away here… You’ll have to check back on my blog in the next couple of weeks.

I hope that you enjoyed this tag. If you decide to take part I would love for you to tag me so I can read your answers.

Christmas Origami.

Welcome to Blogmas day 13!

There are so many creative Christmas origami things you can make.

Last year I made some envelopes, hearts and bookmarks so I decided that I would do a few new things this year. I have also made some of the traditional snowflakes too, my mum will be using them as decorations around the house. I’m sure that I will post a picture on my Instagram.

This Christmas I have spent a lot of time doing origami. I find it so therapeutic and of course, it looks great around the house. I’ve been making bits and bobs to pin onto my inspiration board that I have next to my bed.

I’m sure that I will be posting lots of origami images over on my Instagram in the next few weeks so be sure to check them out.

Have you made any Christmas origami?

Welcome back to Blogmas day 10.

I don’t know about you but I’m so excited for Christmas! We’ve only got 14 more days to go!

Today I want to share with you the nail varnishes that I picked up from Superdrug for this Christmas. Now, unfortunately, I work in a place where I’m not able to wear nail polish to work. Therefore when I have a few days off from work, I really make an effort to paint my nails at any chance I get.

I’ve really been looking forwards for shops to bring out their Christmas ranges of Christmas nail colours. I’m in love with these two!

These are my two Christmas colours for this year!

What colour nails will you be wearing this Christmas?

Christmas Shopping.

Welcome to Blogmas day 9.

I’m about three quarters through my Christmas shopping now. Over the next couple of days I do need to go online and order some last minute things. Other than that, I’m pretty much finished!

One of the things I love most about Christmas is the atmosphere. People just seem so much happier. The shops are much busier. There are lots of shops promoting new gifts ideas. And, of course we cannot forget about stopping off for a cheeky coffee in Starbucks for one of their new Christmas drinks.

20171124_132953810_iOS20171208_130659480_iOS20171115_130622018_iOS20171110_130617855_iOS

I know that ordering gifts online is so much more convenient, however I do like to go into the shops the majority of time. I like looking at things properly. I like to take my time when it comes to picking gifts for people. Also, there is a heightened chance that you will spot something great that you weren’t originally looking for. But when it comes to Christmas, is that necessarily a bad thing? Haha!

Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?

My Christmas Starbucks Order.

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

Welcome back to Blogmas day 8!

The only thing I love more than Christmas, is coffee. I’m obsessed. I couldn’t wait for the moment that Starbucks realised their Christmas drinks list. Also, are their take out cups just adorable?

I have group therapy every Friday morning, and as a treat for going I always buy myself a Starbucks drink afterwards.

My favourite drink is the Toffee Nut Latte. It is beautiful! It’s just the right blend of coffee mixed with Christmas, just perfect!

My current order is a large Toffee Nut Latte! Yes large, because it’s treat! Haha.

I would also recommend the fudge hot chocolate too. It’s also great!

What are your favourite drinks from coffee shops?

My Favourite Christmas Baking Recipe.

Welcome to Blogmas day 7. Today I want to share with you my favourite Christmas recipe. At Christmas time I really love to bake cookies rather than just cupcakes.

This year I have been making festive vanilla cookies!

20171027_160855184_iOS20171027_162059402_iOS

Here’s the recipe that I have used to make these:

  • 250g all purpose flour
  • 125g self-raising flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 250g unsalted butter
  • 125g superfine sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Bake at 200c (Gas 6) for 12-16 minutes.

I feel that this recipe is fantastic for all year round cookies.

I finished the cookies off by using some easy roll green icing. I used the same cookie cutters as I used to make the cookies to cut the tree shapes out of the icing.

Lastly, I used some icing pens to decorate the rest of the trees. I let them set then they were ready to enjoy!

What is your favourite Christmas baking recipe?
